1958 D Lincoln Wheat Cent / LWC Cud On "1". Die Cracks In Hair?

chrisof4 Valued Member United States 274 Posts	Posted 09/27/2019 4:19 pm I am trying to figure out what is going on with Abe's hair on this coin. It looks like he has 2 leaf shapes in his hair. I suspect the actual shape is coincidental, but I am not sure what caused this. Is it from die cracks? There is also a Cud on the 1. I suspect this is from a die break? coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 09/27/2019 7:13 pm All events that happen to this die, I call die events. The die originally was a new at one time. Now die events have reduced the condition of the die to look like this example as the die ages. Just a later die state event cause the coin to look like that until the die was retired years ago.
