Coin roll hunting and found this coin that looks a mess. Not a ton of knowledge in the arena of numismatics here. Would someone knowledgeable give me a idea as to what happened to this coin, please? And thank you for time and attention.

Possible but looks like his beard maybe causing the effect. I'm new to this too but there seems to be a fair number of knowledgeable folks here.

States... We'll just keep learning. I get so frustrated at times with my our ignorance in a hobby that has truly consumed me. Can't tell you how many times I've came close to tossing all my coins, lol. I did toss my stamps. Makes me ill thinking about it. Oh well.
