I found this at work. I dont have any means to weigh it, but it feels different than a normal quarter. Thoughts?

Thank you! Where can I purchase a scale to weigh my coins? I read about something that helps you look more closely to your coins as well. Do you think that is something I should invest in?

@BD, I agree that a scale is a useful tool. You can find AWS scales with 0.01 g resolution for less than $10 on Amazon.

If you plan on getting into the hobby you will need a good scale, one that goes down to 0.001 not 0.01.Should cost around $20. If you want a USB microscope you want one that goes as low as possible and no higher than 200x,price from $20 and up.

I had someone weigh it for me that was looking at my collection. He said it weighed 5.5, so does that mean it is just worn?
Good news is, my 1880 dollar piece is legit and dont a counterfit! Woo hoo!

The normal weight is 5.670g, but the tolerance for variance is +/- 0.227g, so the weight is within the normal range. However, that doesn't mean your coin *isn't* missing the reverse clad layer per se, unless I'm mistaken. I'm not certain one way or the other based on the pictures, but maybe someone else can chime in.

From what I see this looks like a good one, not environmental damage toning.
