Can I ask, How much did you pay for this "Economy" submission?
US$12 per coin, plus postage and isurance both ways. OK, they're in-hand. A couple were and a couple were . Unfortunately, the were $$$ and the were $. Let me get pics to post, and do the math, and I will announce the winner later tonight.

OK, here we go. I'm posting images of the graded coins in the same order as originally shown, along with my own comments and the grade I estimated for it myself. 1847 Large Cent, my guess AU55. 3 cheers for me. 1892 Barber quarter, my guess AU50. All I can say is, wow. 1893 Barber quarter, my guess MS63. So I'm not a Barber grader.

Here are the Morgans. 1880-O, I figured AU55. Close enough. Second 1880-O, same estimate. I didn't mention the VAM in my original post, because it wasn't relevant to the grade of the coin. These got submitted on the off chance that one would grade MS, which would have been a real moneymaker for me.

And now the 1921's, both of which I expected to be AU55: Good for me. Conclusions and winner named in the next post.

Well, here are my conclusions: 1) I need to get better at grading Barbers. I know now more clearly what the keys to the grade are for that series, and in this case they weren't visible to the naked eye. I can see the wear at the wingtips only under the loupe. As a result, I won't be cherrypicking them off ebay for anything more than AU money any longer. That 1908-D is gonna cost me a few bucks. Of course, the 1892 will make it right back. 2) I underestimated the stuffpy quality of 1921 Morgan strikes. Good for me, because that means I have more MS 1921's than I thought. 3) I love the new ANACS holder, and can't stand the unprofessional-looking graphics. They don't stack too well, but I really like the look and feel. OK, now for the moment you've all been waiting for...... The total Sheldon Scale points for this submission is 521, with no Net grades. With a total estimate of 518, the winner is....... Dockwalliper.Dockwalliper, due to a horrendous accident, the two error cents I had planned on including in the prize got spent. [:0] However, in addition to the "something unnamed I decided to throw in," which I will now name as the Top 100 VAM in the contest set, I will include a compensatory coin which I'm sure you'll like: Enjoy your Morgans, Dockwalliper. I will email you, but if you read this first, please email me your mailing address and I will get your prize shipped to you. Thanks to everyone for participating - this was a lot of fun for me.

You don't need a certain number of posts, but you do need to get in before the contest ends and I've announced the winner, which has already happened.

Members run contests from time to time, and it pays to keep this forum on your hit list for that reason. :) I've already won here, so I thought I'd run a contest as a way of paying it forward. Be looking for my next one in about 200 posts.
