coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 03/04/2022 12:03 pm If it were the big DDO, then even that close would show the hub doubling: No where near the big one. A very large percentage of the 1968-1972 cents have Machine Doubling. The machine alters the coins after the strike. On a doubled die, the machine had nothing to do with it. The doubling is on the die. Thus Machine Doubling can happen even on this big DDO: Note the dates on these images: They are all of the same big DDO. But not the yellow arrows? That is where Machine Doubling altered even these doubled dies. A doubled die is caused by the hub doubling on the created die. So you can have a machine doubled doubled die, but you cannot have a doubled die, caused by the machine. The doubling is on the die. Thus the term "Doubled Die." Face the facts.
