This seller has sold 46K items and enjoys a 100% positive seller rating on the bay. Seller has listed a full run of 1808-1836 capped bust halves for $9.99 per coin. They appear to be XF/AU which would make these a ridiculous deal. Wonder how many people he ensnares. He doesn't explicitly say that these are fakes in the title and the description but you see this interesting tidbit pictured below within the attributes of the offering. I think these are illegal unless they are stamped "COPY." The fakes are pretty good at first glance but don't stand up to scrutiny on examination. All the eagles throughout the entire date run look the same. The earlier dated ones have a skinnier eagle. Very tricky the way this seller presents his wares

He even lists this fake rare coin error, a 1815 half dollar about 70% struck off center.

He does have 11 retractected or removed by eBay negative feedback numbers. I can't believe they are allowing "fantasy Coins" again, for awhile they eliminated all and any copies fakes even correctly stamped ones, as it should be, eBay is too rife with dishonest sellers and buyers to have a market of fakes or potential fakes being sold, IMO.

He should be tossed from all selling platforms for selling Chineseium fakes, but we know it won't happen anymore, eBay only seems to care about the fees it collects.

They're not, as far as I can tell. This is still their policy:
https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/...licy?id=5042

Quote:
Replica coins are not allowed
Counterfeit or altered coins and currency are not allowed, nor is equipment designed to make them

Enforcement is another story of course.

I saw the category Fantasy Issue Coins and was concerned but I misread it - it's a subset of exonumia so tokens and things, but the category is abused as to fakes from China proliferate sometimes.

eBay What is the policy?

Replica coins are not allowed

Good to see that is still the case. I hope and wish they could keep on top of it, but I'm sure the listings happen faster than they can keep up with.

I was able to get some screenshots from an open window. Judge for yourself. The title no longer showed "Fantasy Coin" as per prior poster. It was just in a small part of the item attributes within the coin description which I highlighted with a red box. Call these out here if you see these types of listings. Thanks for taking care of this Bobby!

Toned to look old. "Rings Like Silver" seems like an added scammy touch.

The scammers apparently knew enough to abstain from minting the 1816 date which was never struck at the mint. Two people were bidding on the off center strike 1815 coin before it was shut down.

Glad they got removed. Buyers always need to do their due diligence before purchasing coins, but scams like this are awful to see.

This listing is still up. I wonder what "Contemporary struck in Copper" means.

Seller used to indicate "Fantasy" in the title of the listing. The Gobrecht dollar is so poor, I think that it wouldn't fool too many. The 1796 Half Dollar with the reverse 1/2 fractional denomination is a highly coveted coin, but again very crude. With the capped busts, they really stepped it up a notch in quality and dropped the "Fantasy" from the title.
