Morning all,

Just acquired this little beauty. Under the loupe it appears to be the 5 over 5 variety, which was a nice surprise. Thoughts on grade? A few marks and spots here and there, but looks in great condition.

Cheers frog.

It's far more attractive in hand than on the original images, and with a bit of lustre showing in the right light.

Very, very happy with it.

: a little beauty !

For British coins up to uncirculated, I prefer to use the British grading system. For coins better than uncirculated, I prefer to use the Sheldon grading system.
The crossover point is where they both agree with uncirculated = MS60.

As OP has stated: "a few marks and spots here and there", but be aware of what may be a tiny verdigris spot between the leaves behind Britannia's right arm. If it is, see a professional on how this may be treated. Otherwise, a beautiful red patina, undisturbed on the high points of the design, both sides.

Disregarding abovementioned spot
MS-63, one of the best farthings of George 1V that I have seen.

Thanks, Sel, appreciate that.

Will have a word with a man I know about the verdigris spot, see what he has to say.

Thank you

This is good advice, but would you treat verdigris? Bronze disease of course, but verdigris shouldn't spread.
