Hi guys. I know it's tough to find a 1973 Lincoln cent in gear condition. I'm new to this stuff, and I believe my coin would be graded to be red. However, I'm not positive, and I need help on learning where to have it graded, and the costs, as well as determining if it is even worth it to send out... I think I have a good one, but I really need help! Thank you for your time!! P.S. I placed it beside brand new 2022 Pennie's so you can see the comparison.

@rail, in order to give an estimate of the grade, what we most need are in focus, cropped pics of just this coin (both sides). Pls add these to this thread. Thx.

So sorry about the all caps. Now that I know, I won't do it again. And yes, I'll provide better pictures. I think I'll wait until the sun comes up and then take some more from the natural sun light to get the better pictures. And thanks for the heads up!!

No prob at all. It can be hard to know all the best practices when you have just joined. Your new pics are better, but still a little out of focus. I agree that perhaps with natural light the focus might be easier to achieve. Thx again!

Railsiderustique,

Just so you know: A coin needs a minimum retail value of $100-$150 to justfy all costs involved in sending it in to be gradded/slabbed.Here is a link on grading:https://www.PCGS.com/photograde/ and a lnk on values:http://m.numismedia.com/rarecoinprices.htm
Also check eBay sold values for an idea on current values. Also looks like you need to work on taking much better photos, the better the photos you post the better we can help you.http://goccf.com/t/422658

Hoping to see full, large and sharp pics of the obverse and reverse. At the moment, it's likely falling in the AU55-MS62 range. Not a great candidate for a grading submission--in my opinion.

try this to get better photos

1. turn off flash
2. place coin on flat surface with indirect natural light. maybe a window sill in a cloudy day
3. move phone about 3in from coin
4. zoom in using your fingers until the coin comes into focus
5. hold phone steady. if you cant then place something on either side of the coin (like books) at that distance and lay phone between them. this will hold it steady and allow you to zoom and take the photo without any blurring

just an FYI on grading. any coin found in circulation not in an original bank roll most likely will have nominal value a 73D need to grade at least MS67 to offset the cost of grading which can be anywhere from $40-90 with shipping and insurance both ways. your coin even with these photos will not make that grade

without better photos the coin is probably AU58

Looks to be an average, mint state coin. MS-63/64 at best.

I have a few 1973-D Lincoln cents and they are pretty much in mint state. Not worth sending in for slabbing.

I think it's super cool that out of the all the modern coins available you choose a 73-D.
May I ask...
Is this a collection you picked up or are you starting a Moden collection and just want direction from here on out,,,
Since you already know how to post pics...pretty good by the way for a newer member...croping the pics is really important...gives us more of the find details...
We love pics and look fwd to seeing more of you and your pretty pics!
