As I go through my dollars from the 50's I am of course looking for varieties and know to check the waterlines.
I know that 1953-1957 have waterline varieties, but cannot find any references or examples for 1959. Can anyone help me out?
See photos...the coin has obviously been harshly cleaned, but I don't think the waterlines are due to wear or damage. Thoughts?
Many thanks!!

Definitely damage.
The left end of the waterline appears to be sloping upward parallel to some of the scratches.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

With die polishing variations in EVERY YEAR
( exception being 58 ) of the 1950s you are
sure to find a 1959 with some lines shorter than others.
Keep looking !
Two really interesting dollars to be on the lookout for
1952 WL with the bottom line completely polished out ,
1956 Short Waterlines .
Agree with DBM on your 1959 though !
Appears to be slight damage
