Is This Error Caused By Die Damage?

A1agrl Valued Member United States 177 Posts	Posted 05/28/2023 12:04 pm I could use some assistance Identifying the error on this coin. Is it a die gouge? Is it from the feeder finger? I have found this mark on many coins (dimes, nickels, quarters) with sometimes four of five gouges in alignment. Please can someone let me know what this is? Thanks Report this Post to the Staff

A1agrl Valued Member United States 177 Posts	Posted 05/28/2023 12:43 pm Thanks, Halo1st for your insight. What is a mystery is that the marks are the same on all the coins which I've found it. It does not vary in size or appearance from one coin to the next but is consistant in size, shape (half-moon) and spacing, something also interesting is that I find the marks on the obverse not the reverse. If the marks were due to reed strikes, I would think they would not have such a constant appearance. Report this Post to the Staff
