Found coin roll hunting, a 2019-P 5c WDDR-010. This appears to be an earlier die state than the Wexler listing on BVC. The hornets nest depression is just starting to form on the side of Monticello. Interestingly, those little gouges in the corner of the archway appear to be on the die, as they are on both coins. The die chips between WE seem to be missing entirely.
Dearborn, I have indeed developed an interest in the current doubled dies. I think nickel coin roll hunting would get really thin if you only focused on traditional DDO / DDR varieties. My pre-1960 rate is about 1-2%, and many of those coins are in rough condition. After several thousand nickels, I've only found two true DDR and one mint mark variety (and a lot of knowledge). There are a lot of positives to the Class IX doubles—they are reasonably available, the coins are in good condition, the features are quick to identify visually, and this doubling type is gaining official acceptance in CPG and TPG catalogs.
I'd love to score a big prize every $20 or so, but I'm happy to settle for a few fun finds along the hunt.
