I cracked all my proof sets in the early 1990s and moved the coins to their respective Dansco albums. Personally I like the look of these older sets. Maybe b/c the first proof set I ever saw was when my grandfather pordred some 1973 sets. They got to my house (he always shipped things like this to my house) so I could see them. But I waited and took the box to his place so we could open them together. Those old cases were sealed and they will receive damage when opened. I know this from personal experience. If there is a way to open it clean, I am sure the seller would expect to be paid for that skill. Better to just buy a new set.
