To CCF! What does the edge look like? I'm thinking that it might be the real deal. The weight is correct for a copper cent Planchet.

Do you have a LCS (local coin shop) or "We Buy Gold" shop near you? If Yes than you could have them test it. That's the route I'd go if unsure.

Our regular members will know that when I comment on error coins, I very often cite Occam's Razor as my rationale for condemning something as "not an error"... but I'm thinking this is an excellent application of Occam's Razor to prove a coin actually is an error instead. Scenario 1: the coin really is a nickel struck on a penny planchet. Scenario 2: the coin is a normal nickel, which someone has neatly trimmed or lathed to match the weight of a penny, and then the coin has acquired environmental staining to make it appear coppery. Scenario 1 is clearly the simplest explanation in this instance, so is therefore the most probable.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

to the CCF Certainly appears to be legit by what you are showing us. Final data point that would convince me is for you to tell us the diameter.

I will be curious to see the outcome of this, if any. I still see nickel in color though, not copper as others obviously do.

I'm on Team Lathe with this one.

Ok everyone, I'm still very new at doing all this so I will get all your questions answered on my next post all together, but one question. How should I go about getting you the diameter best? Should I picture a penny and perhaps a nickel as well next to said coin in question?

If you do not have calipers to measure the coin, take a random nickel and lay your example over it and maybe a cent on top of your example. Which ever is larger, have it on the bottom. Take a straight on shot of each set of coins so we can see what the difference in size is.

This was also posted on another forum and Fred Weinburg has stated that it is genuine. Good enough for me.
