Loaded question, take it to the bank and they will give you a buck.

Take it to a dealer and they might give you 2.00 on a good day since it is a star designation.

To answer deeper without getting into some crazy long explanation-

Yes they are the older style of note. No longer in circulation so they will bring a premium to collectors. Date, Letter, Signature combination, and condition all factor in.

Unfortunately a series 1957A Smith/Dillon is considered a rather common note.

The star designation does have some attraction surrounding it but in general not THAT much when on the more common notes.

Safe to call it a 5.00 value note give/take a bit based on the scans. Will someone pay MORE? Maybe...Will your average note collector consider chasing this note beyond a few bucks? Probably not because of it's relative rarity/availability within the hobby.

Place it in a large book and forget about it for a while. Maybe it will relax itself a bit.

It is a nice note, enjoy it as a nice example of obsolete currency. But trying to sell it with hopes to retire I think is going to be a difficult task. Thanks for sharing it with us.
