Heres a 1935 French 1 Franc coin I got in a 20$ 5 pound world coin lot about 4 years ago. Krause listed alot of these were assumed too have been melted down, no clue how accurate that is.

Many of these coins have certainly been melted down for the metal contents but there remain still a lot to make this a relatively easy set - except for the essay, of course.
Here you have the key date of the series which even in low grade is still worth some little money.
