Hi all,

Just wondering, what's the face value of a log of pennies & halfpennies?

I know someone that is selling over 500kgs of pennies, half pennies, about 15 mint coin sets going from 1980s - 1998.

It does not look like any of them are sorted and the coins are in kegs and sheets etc. the asking price is $42k for the lot.

Cheers

I wouldn't be paying more than $20 per kg myself.

if you watch ebay, Aussie bronze routinely goes for $20~$30 per kilo, but rarely for more than that.
And that assumes that they've been stored adequately, that is no "green disease".
The mint sets can be found for less than $20 each.
So, that's an asking price of about $84 per kilo.
My response to that is to quote from one of the great examples of Australian cinema:
"Tell him he's dreaming ..."
