Hello

I have taken some photo's of a coin that I just bought and was wondering if someone could crop them for me. I have been sitting at my computer for about an hour now trying to get them looking right, but I just can't. I am using GIMP and when I crop the image I can never add the black background to the picture.

Thanks.

Note: My pictures are not the best. I have been looking for a new camera, but for now this is all I have. (I don't have a tripod, so I had to hold the camera as still as possible.)

Here is the best I could do in 1 hour.

See how the edges are almost "wavy"?

I'd also check to see if a copy table is less expensive than a tripod. I have no idea what one costs these days but in 1984 they weren't that expensive. It gives you a very stable platform to shoot from.

if you are using Gimp try this in the future

select File/New - (choose your new image size to have the black background) say 800x800
then
select colors/invert - (that will give you the black background)
then
File/open (choose your coin image
then
tools/selection tools/elipse select (lasso your coin by dragging the elipse corners
then
edit/cut/
then go to the black background image
then edit/paste
then
save as.....

Thanks fenton and EyeEatWheaties for taking the time to crop these and add a black background for me.

Would this be because of the camera I used?
