Two Pence 1797

I live in Canada. We are the master of pocket change with the Toonies and Loonies.

Ya, great coin. I have a few Cartwheel Pennies and Twopence. My collection is mostly pre-1820 with a passion for Medieval European and Roman Imperial. Elizabeth I, James I and Charles I are also favs.

I still have a large group of US and Canadian copper. The only modern issues I actively collect are US nickels with an eye out for higher grade Buffaloes. I sold my US and Candian silver to feed my Roman Imperial habit. I love the hammered and Roman stuff because every coin is unique.

I started some 40 years ago and grew to be an avid collector of US and Canadian coins. A few years back I picked up a nice mid grade 1575 Elizabeth I sixpence and ... well ... that was it. I was hooked! All I wanted to do then was go back in time. There is nothing (in coin collecting that is)like holding a nice full legend Vespasian Dupondius or a Marcus Aurelius Sestertius. I recently picked up a Charles I Half Crown that was, frankly, spectacular! My wife thinks I'm nuts. It's a passion that is hard to explain. My rule of thumb is when purchasing a coin I only pay what I know I can flip it tomorrow for the same price or more. Otherwise, a passion becomes an expensive addiction. It's a very fine line.
