Two questions, not necessarily related:

1. For those that use microscopes for checking VAMs (at least stereoscopic is a given) is one adequate/better than others keeping things around or unbder the $500 mark? Given that 10-30X and 10-40X are about the same price. I would like opinion on sharpness, built-in lighting, etc.

2. Using a tri-scopic is not out of the question, but I see no need to spend $300 for a (Nikon) camera adapter. Am I wrong? Will the scope mounted digi's produce an adequate image for databasing, posting and 1:1 printouts of VAM attributes? Full coin views will be shot with a 100mm micro.

Thanks for any input,

Seth

I use a 7.5 X to 35 X which is great and the only thing that I would suggest is a zoom feature. I do take a lot of pictures of coins (over 5000) and shoot right through one of the lens and have no problem with that, so the tri-scope, for the extra money, does not seem worth it. A stereoscope, however, is so well worth the money. After using one, you will hate using a loop.
