German 1938A 2 Reichspfennig

Actually saw one of these described as "gold colored" go for about $50 last year.

This coin has been cleaned as well (although it have way more details) - old copper just don't look like that (it should be like cent coins)

As for the color, saw the picture ... a well cleaned coin with a nice light could give that out - although not for pure copper.

If those pfenig are in pure copper (orange / pink colored) - then that coin has been plated ...

I saw a flea market dealer who had thousands of coins, and almost everything was buffed--pages of identical color cents, etc.

I asked why he did that, he said his customers like them that way.

Back when GSA cc dollars were released, toning was an automatic reject from the $30 ones to the $15 pile.

It makes sense not to anything to a collectable that can't be undone, but tastes are different, and change over time.
