New housing starts are up,permit for housing starts are up,labor issues in Chile,China still stockpiling copper,etc. I think it will hold this time. Some are still projecting $5 by years end.

Every time I think about investing in copper the vehicle that looks best to me is copper wiring, probably 12 gauge romex. Anyone else have suggestions for investing in physical copper?
There was a Radio Shack closing near me a few years ago that had a big roll of like 6 gauge multi-strand amp wire on clearance. I wish I had bought the whole roll because it was really discounted, probably close to or below melt value. I did buy about 20 feet of it...IIRC it was about 90% off retail.

Copper has been very high. It's been above $4 the majority of 2011. There's almost no reason to think it will get to $5. I wonder how high must the price of copper get for the pre-1982 cents to achieve Wheat status?

Copper seems to be getting scarcer in rolls these days. Only seeing about 18% and almost no wheats!

Still about 20% or so for me with a sprinkling of dimes here and there to help increase my profit. =)

When I was a kid I was scavenging copper and alloys of copper from the local dump.
I was selling the stuff to a scrap metal dealer at three shillings and ninepence per pound. I bought an electric train set with the proceeds.
Years later, I sold the trainset and I bought a Double Eagle. Youngest kid around with such a coin, and I paid for it all by myself!

A bit of financial alchemy sel,turn copper into gold. As a youngster I never appreciated the metals,now I wish I had. I could have a nice stash cheap if I had!
