1859 Cent Die Clashes - 4 Examples - Coin Community Forum

canadian-varieties Pillar of the Community Canada 1442 Posts	Posted 08/16/2011 12:36 am I collect die clashes from the 1940s-1960s avidly. Hanging numbers, moons, halfmoons, hearing aids, boomerangs, harps and guitars, I love them all I've come across some puzzling 1859 die clashes . The only Vicky cent clash I'm familiar with is the 1881H reverse beads one in Charlton, so this is new to me. Comments would be appreciated. 1. "Double hanging 59" - two boomerang like clashes can be seen between the 5 and 9 of 1859, similar to those seen in 1960s pennies. 2. "Hanging 9" - a simple boomerang over the 9, also like those seen in 1960s pennies. The doubled 5 is a bonus 3. "Queen Vic portrait?" - an outline going around the reverse, almost looks like a portrait. 4. "Numerous clashes" - one between 5 and 9, another above E, and a third between O and N in ONE. I can't remember where though, perhaps on a Heritage Auction page... I think Zonad pointed it out to me a couple of years ago (on another web site).
