1913 $10 Gold Coin... Has Anyone Ever Seen Any Fakes ?

AgCoinAu Pillar of the Community Canada 3049 Posts	Posted 09/10/2013 01:15 am Local guy brought a $10 coin to me today.. 1913 gold that the mint had just re-released awhile back. It was in the clamshell and had the COA but I told the seller I would have to sit on it for a couple days before I make a decision to buy. It looks good.. but with it not being .999 I can't do a specific gravity test to prove it to be authentic... The seller is asking $950.. (needs it for books) and I think that's a fair price... but then realized that the coins are selling on the bay for 1k ... or more.. So just putting it out there to those who are a lot more knowledgeable than myself... because if a deal sounds too good to be true.. it usually is... Any thoughts or things I should look for when I bring my loupe and cash? Report this Post to the Staff
