What is this? I think it is a type I but I am a little cunfused with the bulbous serifs.

Best "guess" typeI.Been a really long time since I handled any of these.
Also try a search in this forum for 1981.Probably find several topics for this.

Consider this. The 1981-S Variety 1 mint mark looks like the one on my 1980-S, the Variety 2 looks like the one on my 1982-S.
