Well it can't be from the same die. The location of your mint mark is too far north.

The areas where the "D" mint shows in above the serif area (vertical) and inside the upper loop. Your circles are not covering those areas.

As coop said if it is an over mint mark it is a different one. It is hard to tell from your photos. I suspect it is a die gouge coupled with damage.

A lot of the "S" mint coins suffer from a damaged punch that show above the lower loop.

In addition, the OP's coin has the wrong mintmark style. The OP's coin has the sans serif mintmark and the S/D has the Trumpet tail mintmark.

Yeah--it can't really be that variety, can it? Looking at tiny details on coins can be tricky sometimes--I "see" a lot of things that turn out to be damage or some trick of light.
