Hello. On PCGS's price guide for Morgan's under most dates and varieties it lists a PL and/or DM under designation. What are these? Are they the ingraver's initials? Where do you look on one to see them? Or am I way off base? Thanks!

PL= proof-like
DMPL= deep mirror proof-like

It is a measure of the reflectivity of the fields. A nicely struck Morgan dollar with fresh dies will have qualities similar to a proof coin with mirrored fields and cameo devices. Depending on the year/mm combination, the designation can add quite a premium to a coin.

DUH! LOL, It was too obvious, I was thinking way too much into it. I was even looking at some DM/PL Morgans an hour ago and I never put it together. Thanks. lol
