Can Someone Please Help Me Understand What Happened To This Poor Coin?

I see you are using tweezers to hold it in the picture, that's fine as that dime is already ruined, but if you have collectable coins you don't want them near anything like tweezers that will scratch and damage the coin. Only hold your coins by the edge and avoid touching the surfaces. Report this Post to the Staff

sonchild Valued Member United States 83 Posts	Posted 08/20/2016 8:15 pm It looks like it could have fallen victim to a press or some sort of heavy duty industrial clamp. It might also have been driven over, but it's all post mint damage ( PMD) for sure. That's what makes coins interesting in my opinion, every coin has a history. Report this Post to the Staff

My guess was it got dropped onto the floor of a loading doc, tons of stuff landed on it, and then got dragged around a little. We'll never know but I think your guess was better than mine.
