Hey guys I just found this in an old jar of pennies and I know probably isn't worth anything but ive seen coins similar to this in the past. Is this considered an error? At the bottom of the penny there is 2 layers of the edge compared to the 1 layer on the rest of the coin. Also how can I tell if its a small or big date 1982-p cent?   *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. *** |

Is it worth anything? Its also the 95% copper cent, not the zinc one. So a 1982-p off center copper big date. And thanks for the replies guys.

If the reverse rim alignment is normal then would say the hammer die was slightly misaligned. The double looking rim or gutter seems to be a common side effect of this kind of strike on cents.
If the reverse is misaligned as well, then pending the direction off center or something else may be a foot. Thanks, Doug.
