I got this in a change bucket from a friend. It's very flimsy so I'm not really sure what it is. It's non-magnetic and on the back it looks like it was affixed to something at some point.
Any ideas?

It's a copy of a gold koban:

The Koban is a pretty iconic piece of Japanese history, so copies are pretty common for decoration or novelty. Yours looks like it used to be affixed to something.

I agree with Finn235. There are also very good copies of these made in gold.

Now your question has been answered, what is a "change bucket" and how do you get something like this in it from a friend?

An old friend who knows I collect coins had a small tub of coins that his dad left him. My friend doesn't care for numismatics and he knows I love coin collecting so he gave the tub to me.
The best one I found in it is a 1792 Barbados Halfpenny. Not bad condition for being 225 years old...
