Sadly, it's due to " Mechanical Doubling", where the date gets sheared as it is ejected from the die. I once found one of these really strongly "doubled"--and my heart skipped a beat! Somebody will post a photo of the real 60-S DDO soon.

Notice how MD is sharp edged, DD is rounded and has extra size of letters.

Old Joe: Yours IS THE 69DD, but it just so happens I'm fairly sure the S is MD'ed. look at example

Wow! That's the real deal! I also notice your coin has a little Machine Doubling, which could be a little confusing.

Hey all! We keep plugging away at finding one of these elusive keepsakes dont we? I found this CRH recently but thought Id better not get to excited until I have anothers opinion.

Yeah - even though the pic is a little blurry it doesn't seem to show any doubling on the letters or date.
