Hey guys,
I am new to the forums here and just started collecting these NCLT Hockey coins. I originally collected coins when I was younger and decided to dabble in the hockey coin. As I am a huge hockey fan and collect hockey cards I noticed these coins on upper decks website "e-pack." It's similar to opening a pack of cards and not knowing what you will receive, thus there is an element of luck involved. There is 4 tiers of scarcity and the coins are silver or gold. I am wondering what you guys think about these coins?

Well at around $75CDbeach for the silver rounds and buying a pig in a poke what do you do when you get doubles of rounds you already have. There probably only a small to no secondary market for them. I no that the colorized ASE's or other types have little to no premium to collectors considering that most dealers will drop the price they pay for colorized rounds a couple more dollars in addition what they pay an oz for rounds. Which is going for under $18.00 T oz this morning. You will really have to love hockey to collect them. By the way I generally buy colorized ASE's for about $2.00 below spot. And I remove the colorize with an acetone soak, which I put away for the grandson. at 3 years of age I'm betting that the spot goes up by the time he gets them  |

Good topic! These coins can be viewed and ordered at cibc.com/upperdeckI love the concept, combines precious metal coins, hockey, and games of chance! The risks I see are: -Legal tender in... Cook Islands (lots of hockey fans there). How much is $5 in Cook Islands? -High mintages? 20 players * 6600 coins each (5000 basic, 1000 high relief, 500 frosted, 100 1/4 oz gold) -Dubious player choices Dylan Larkin? If they needed a Wing, this is the best choice? Dustin Byfuglien? Poor Jets fans. I really doubt that there is any investment potential here, other than maybe short term (i.e. Kennedy gold halves). As a native Montrealer, I'd love the Patrick Roy coins, after that wonderful playoff series against the Rangers, I wouldn't bet that Price will be a Habs much longer. But I think I'll wait to see these on the secondary market in a few years at bullion prices. Edited by ekovitch

Hi Circus. You are able to trade on upper deck's trading platform via e-pack: https://www.upperdeckepack.comI have done a lot of trading for players or teams I collect - Hockey Cards. As a Canucks fan I am less interested in other teams, except McDavid! I was doing some research on ebay and found that McDavid 1 oz. Silver coin /5000 is selling for +$150 Canadian. You get into the more rare parallels /500 and /1000 plus the gold coins. Over the past years of collecting card, the market has been quite strong and the coins have a large base of hockey collectors, with the possibility of coin collectors.
