1948-Nickel-On-Wrong-Planchet?

Sorry for poor quality picture. Color is purple-ish , dark pink and dark gray. Was told it might be on a wrong planchet. Any info would be helpful

The coin is struck perfectly on a nickel planchet - what you have is environmental toning!

My first thought after consideration, is environmental damage.

Soil conditions can produce some weird colors, I state without reservation.
