Would it be appropriate to post images of Irish Silver Hallmarks in the forum? I am trying to determine/identify some pieces of coin silver and seem to have hit a wall.

While I'm into U.S. silversmith hallmarks and counterstamps, I'd say this is the place to post the Irish ones. Have a go!

That's where I was able to determine that the item was Irish! I'm at a standstill going further. I'll post images when I get home.

Here are the hallmarks I'm trying to identify on a large coin silver soup ladle.   The Crowned Harp and Hibernia mark it as Irish Silver. I can't match the date which I believe is the K. I'm having trouble putting it all together. The Lion or Cat is on the opposite side of the hallmarks positioned above an inscription/dedication. I tried to upload that photo but am having difficulties using the new optimizer. Thanks for any help. I greatly appreciate it. |

Thanks, Alganbagerap! I'm assuming that the date refers to the "K" Hallmark. Any ideas about the maker? Closest I'm seeing is Charles Marsh.  It fits. |

The cat looks like an engraving, as opposed to a hallmark or stamp. The touch marks, stamps, provide information, whereas the engraving seems personalized in some respect .... I may be wrong on this?

Yes, it is an engraving but I was thinking t may be a Crest.

@singer, could you please post an overall image of the spoon showing the cat engraving? Just riffing off of @exoguy's idea, could this have been a catfood spoon for a turn-of-the-century Irish catlady?

I believe this is a Georgian Soup Ladle. I'm trying to identify provenance, date and maker.

The reference is to Westport Co Mayo. The Rev Burke was PP or Parochus:- Parish priest, and VG Vicarius Generalis mening that he had responsibility of a part of the Doicise.
The Coat of Arms is not that of the Burke family, nor of Westport which makes it a clue worth following.
