Counterfeit ~ I just found in my Red Book that the ones with bears on them are fakes and with a little help from my CFF friends.

It looks really fake. And, I remember a lot of the California gold pieces after 1856 are post dated and counterfeit. Do theses counterfeits have any significant value? I assume they are gold plated or something similar.

There are gazillions of replicas, many made for the jewelry trade, that are not forgeries. A forgery is made to deceive, a replica, not made to deceive, although they obviously still do.
