Newbie here. Not sure if this is an error or if the one side was sanded off or something after.

to the CCF!

Your coin is not an error, it's been modified. Someone removed the obverse.
ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!

That looks like a dime coop has owned. He files the silver edges & sometimes sands the obverse off if he's feeling greedy.

What Coop suggests is what I heard years ago, but was attributed to the gold coins. Shaving a small amount of gold from each coin could yield a good profit over several coins. The shaved reeds could easily be spotted and removed from circulation. Either scenario doesn't matter, I feel it was a real concern.
