I am interested in buying a mint bag of Canadian coins (probably early 1960s Silver Dollars or possibly a bag of Silver Dimes)...I am curious as to any estimates of what these items might be worth...also, does anyone know how scarce these are as I have only spotted bags of pennies in my search so far...

Does anyone know where I can find one of these items for sale?

Thank you!

I know of a few bags of silver dollars that are kicking around. Problem is, there is 600 oz of pure silver in a bag of 1000 silver dollars so it would be fairly pricey. Bags of pennies and nickels are much easier to obtain. I would search ebay, ask around your local dealers, call dealers around the country etc. I would think you can find some easily but that all depends on how much you are willing to spend. Hope that helps a bit

Just cracked open a mint bag of 1964 25c coins... not a single error in the entire bag

Hi SPP-Ottawa,

Sorry to hear no errors...how was the average grade of the coins...were there lots of Gems and Cameos?

How many quarters are in a mint bag?

You rarely find nice gem grade coins in mint bags... once they move around a few times, they all become "baggy"... I once opened a bag of 1963 silver dollars, and the best grade was a MS-63.

I'm always paranoid about purchasing things like this. Any recommendations on people/businesses you can trust in the Toronto area?
