Hello all -
Please have a look at the obverse side rim on this 1940 NFLD 5c. Particularly as centred at 9 o'clock. It's mostly just on the obverse side. I've included the cognate reverse and the obverse of a more normal-looking example. The oddball has a blue background, the more normal one has a black background.

Any opinions welcome. Thanks and best,

I have seen the same sort of rim effect on U.S. gold dollars.

collar clash - just googled that. I figured it was some kind of damage during the minting process rather than an error sort of thing - I had a look at a bunch of coins from the same year and did not find any others.... Thanks!
