Hello,

I have this penny with a hole in the middle and countermarks arround. Because some colonial issues have a hole and marks I was wondering if this one was used aswell as a colonial issue? Or is this farfetched?

Size suggests a British pure copper Penny from Matthew Boulton's Soho Mint.

If this modified coin was ever intended to be re used as currency, a probable theory is that it could have been used as a plantation token.
Counter stamped Chinese characters suggest perhaps on a Malayan rubber plantation.
(All guesswork on my part).

hmmm I think its a ferry/transportation token or ad hoc counterweight as that's why theres a hole, also complete guesswork. Interesting tho, thanks for sharing.

First symbol looks like a WANG in Chinese the second just looks like a upper case K.
