I was wondering if anyone can give me more information on this 1953 D silver penny. It was in my late fathers collection and I would like to know more about it.

It looks like it is still encased in a bezel, the cent is probably
coated with nickel to form some sort of jewelry.
What is the weight to two decimal points.

Correct typo

yep, still in an encasing bezel it covers the obverse rim and just barely on the reverse - I wonder if it could be 'snapped' out like a lens from a eyeglass frame..

Actually, 0.1 oz equals 2.8 grams, assume this is what you mean.
