I'm not sure what's happened above UNUM, I swore I'd seen something like it on error-ref but can't find anything.

Was this damaged from striking or post-mint? It doesn't seem post-mint to me.

Looks like a rim bruise to me.

Were you thinking of a partial collar?

Spence, no, but thank you for the link. It just looked to me like a partial secondary collar formed from some form of striking error. I thought I'd seen some type of clash or damage that can make a second rim.

I'm sure I'm mistaken, I can't find it, just odd looking damage I suppose. Thank you both!

You can see how the metal was pushed from the edge/rim onto the coins surface.

Marve65, thanks. If I imagine the metal as folding rather than being pushed, I can picture it happening. For whatever reason, it didn't register to me as a regular dent.

Normal damage either way, it filled a hole in my book though!
