Is it my imagination, or does this have a repunched date? If so, which variety would it be, and why doesn't PCGS value each variety? Thanks, Tim Do not read this sentence.

Some show pictures, some don't. Variety 38318 has no picture and no value, and in VF or lower variety 38316 has no value shown. Is 93790 the nearest useable number?

Quote: how about a nice close up of the date? Would if I could, Dearborn, and I know the photo is lacking, but it's something I'm buying online, and better photos will have to wait till it arrives in my mailbox. Fingers crossed.....

I do not see an RPD on this coin. If there is one, it is very minor and would only be visible with an enlarged photo of the date. If you are thinking that the second six looks larger and that is an RPD, all 1866 Shield nickels look like this.

Thanks, howards. Yes, given the poor image quality, I may just be imagining things. I have an arrow pointing just to the right of the six at what I'm seeing, but it may just be stray pixels. It also seems like there's repetition of the bottom cross-serif of the one a little above the main bit, but that could just be detritus of some sort. Time will tell. And better photos when I have it.

OK, so what I was seeing in the photo is some kind of surface thing that also appears down much of the left side of the shield between the raised lines of the design. Separately, is this a DDO? I feel like I'm seeing doubling in the IGWT. Definitely not RPD.
