Most modern US commemorative coin programs have a built-in sales period limitation - generally the initial year of issue.

The legislation that authorized the FIFA coin program, for example, incorporates a sales period limit:

"Secretary may issue coins under his Act only during the calendar year beginning on January 1, 2026."

The time limitation doesn't always help - some coin themes simply are popular with collectors.

That's difficult to say. As the program was not directly authorized by Congress as part of the commemorative coin program, the series is being struck under the Mint's general administrative authority.

As such, there is no pre-determined expiration date for any particular Comic Art issue. The coins/medals can be sold until the issue's maximum stated mintage is achieved or the Mint's inventory of it is exhausted. For example, the Superman gold coin has a listed Mintage Limit of 10,000 - that's its cap but it is not date driven.
