A busy week with great stuff!
HondoB, I'm no expert but I've certainly handled my fair share of contemporary counterfeits from the early 19th century. My "eyeball guess" is that your "interesting fake" was struck (or cast?) in *spelter*, a high-zinc content fake bronze that features both lighter weight and a tendency toward blackening, unlike official regal copper and bronze coinage. Great example!
