My poor plywood bookshelf is physically sagging under the weight of all the nickels I have squirreled away from CRH. It is time to declutter, and I want to begin with my nemesis:

2023 Nickels

Given the huge proliferation of WDDR for that year, I have just been stashing every 2023 that I encountered into rolls. I even started a taxonomy spreadsheet where I was going to impose some kind of order on searching through thousands of nickels for 100+ WDDR varieties. Well, after three years, it has gotten a little silly, and I am honestly no closer to finishing that "guide". I consider it something of a Don Quixote vs. windmills moment in my coin roll hunting adventures.

Full disclosure: I have mentally conceded that the minor "thickness" varieties and "doubled doorway floor" varieties are probably just die or hub deterioration. Or at the very least, I am no more interested in collecting them than interested in collecting minor DDD specimens. We can toss those off the list right now.

It is an open question whether I would rapidly search the heap for the doubled lettering in Monticello varieties to consolidate into a few tubes.

So, what else does one search on that year?
