Quote: it seems the inflation + what i'll call a deceptive economy doesn't seem to be bothering anyone so much that they aren't yet completely dissuaded from chucking their change. Never overestimate the power of intoxicants to override fiscal responsibility.

agreed. I was a major weedhead once upon a time. I walked away from it. I also developed an ecstasy habit much longer ago, but I walked away from that, too. I never had a drink problem; my body never handled it well, so it never really caught on. I am clean & sober, thankfully. all my 'extra' funds go into my account at FPS.
actually, I had a very long paragraph typed up about him and opted to not submit it to the conversation. if & when the economy finally wobbles & teeters on it's last good leg, and things begin to just stop, maybe he'll see why I've been telling him the things I've been telling him. he has a sizable amount of bicentennial coinage that's really only worth face value. I told him to sell it & convert it into as much Au/Ag as he could... years ago. he didn't. so now all that coin would net him less Au/Ag now. and that'll just continue to shrink. oh well. I tried to help him with that. *shrugs*
...so, did another round of stimulus checks go out recently?

from the Austin American Statesman: there you go. so, if anyone sees an ad or an email (as I did a few days ago) proclaiming stimulus checks are coming, it's not true and is likely a scam. delete. First Pink Savings cares.

my post office box rent went up $10. $202 a year for the pleasure of throwing away junk mail every three weeks or so.

tonight I picked a well-scattered $1.19, all coins. 7th night of the month and 4th consecutive night of $1+. I've picked more than $11 so far this week. I'm on a roll.

I'm going to hang on with this for as long as it takes to achieve $5K. I want that milestone. i reached out to a member some weeks ago (i won't name him unless he gives me permission to), I sent him an email. I was delighted to receive a reply. in it he told me the paragraph below. this is my disclaimer of sorts. I haven't asked for his blessing on re-publishing part of his email to me. I don't think he'd mind that I re-publish this, but I also told him to stop by here and leave some of his stories, if any. he hasn't yet, don't know if he will, he seems like a very busy guy. anyway, the reason I re-publish this is because I've always maintained that what I'm doing late at night is nothing new, probably many other people have done the same, just maybe not here in kw. his email to me was confirmation of that. I've always maintained that anyone could be doing what I'm doing and i'll stick to that, although it's just not quite the same as it was pre-covid, as I have probably stated on more than one or two occasions. so, from his email: Quote: one of the things about working nights was driving through the parking lots of fast food places and finding change people dropped at the drive-through and in the parking lots. It funded a lot of my early coin purchases as well. COVID definitely changed a lot of that, as you noted. so there you have it. it has been done before. it can still be done now, depending on where you live. the value of my bag of treasure continues to grow incrementally. $5K is almost within spitting distance.
