Hiya Daltonista. Yes, the Oak is very "English". We built black and white houses out of it for centuries. It has also been used for the construction of lock gates in our canals, and the hills of our sailing ships were made of it until we found that Teak didn't attract wood-boring sea-creatures. Most country estates had plantations of it for maintaining their properties. It is also celebrated on the old-style "round pounds" of 1987, 1992, and 2013. (Round pounds with these designs from other years are forgeries, but that's another story...
