Hiya Daltonista. Yes, the Oak is very "English". We built black and white houses out of it for centuries. It has also been used for the construction of lock gates in our canals, and the hills of our sailing ships were made of it until we found that Teak didn't attract wood-boring sea-creatures. Most country estates had plantations of it for maintaining their properties. It is also celebrated on the old-style "round pounds" of 1987, 1992, and 2013. (Round pounds with these designs from other years are forgeries, but that's another story...

Bought this at one of my relatively local coin shops today - an 1892 Maundy Set. It fills a gap as I didn't have a Jubilee Head one. I might try to upgrade the fourpence sometime as it's more worn than the other coins - maybe the original 4d was lost and replaced, or perhaps it just got separated from the other coins and mishandled. Usually if any coins in a Maundy Set look different from the others, it's the penny (tiny and easily lost) or the threepence (Maundy recipients in need of some cash sometimes spent them, as until 1927 they were the same as the currency threepence):   |
