Those are called Radial Flow Lines. It's from Die Deterioration. The die was starting to wear out.

Thanks for the quick response! I had looked at error ref radial flow lines, but what I see on my coin does not match their image. It seems to be something else. https://www.error-ref.com/radial-flow-lines/Could it be something else?

I believe it is by design, that is, the font they chose to engrave. How does it compare to other examples?

Most other coins have a slight wavy line but not as a dark and thick.
