So I have 2 1982 D pennies. They was handed down to me. They do weigh 3.11 each so they are solid bronze copper. If I remember correctly. So the 8 the top loop is smaller than the bottom loop. And the 2 curves just like a backwards s. So what do I do with them now? Auction or keep? If anyone has more information please... Here it is it has been in my family for a long time. Large Date. Do not go by the numbers, they can get damaged or distorted. Go by the distance of the 2 from the rim. If another number will fit in the space, then it is a Small Date. If it is close to the rim, then it is a Large Date
