A few days ago, I packed up my first coin submission to VSS. Since others on the forum had mentioned them, I thought I would document the progress of my submission for CCF. I communicated with the owner in advance, and he was very helpful about confirming the varieties that he attributes. The coins that I sent via USPS were:

1935 Buffalo nickel DDR FS-801, ICG Genuine slab
1945-S Mercury dime, Inverted Mint Mark FS-504, ANACS MS64
1954-S Jefferson nickel, DDR FS-801, NGC MS66
1957-D Washington quarter, Misplaced-D FS-501 (902?), ANACS MS63

I will note that the submission form seems to be live code intended to work with JavaScript or something similar. I have my browser configured to block those flavors of active code, so I had to print out the form. I did have to cross out a bunch of default example stuff, which presumably the code would have otherwise handled.

As of today, my package has arrived at the P.O. Box in Illinois.

It's my intention to eventually liquidate these four coins on ebay, so I will document that process as well.

I received my return package from VSS at the post office this morning. The box with the four slabs was very well packed, and included an invoice. The slabs themselves look great. The stickers are well fitted to each slab and look very professional.

John was prompt in his communications and very helpful. So far, this has been an outstanding experience. =)

Worth mentioning: the total cost of round trip submission—outgoing USPS shipping, VSS fees, return postage, insurance—averaged out to $16 per coin. I feel that's an excellent value for the service provided by Variety Slabbing Service.

I should add, I think that 21 days door-to-door is blazingly fast for any sort of professional coin service.
